Advantage to submit AMS with own's SCAC code.

There are some advantages in submitting AMS via your own system rather than letting your shipping agent file AMS. Firstly, you get the filing result in a few minutes. Second is you can control the timing. 

Also save submission fee and amendment fee from your shipping agent or carrier.

a. FMC certificate

b. FMC bond.

c. SCAC code

d. C3 Bond or Type 3 International Carrier bond

Once you get the 4-document ready, what is the next step to apply.

You need to look for a CBP certified software provider to provide the filing service. CBP provide a software provider list on CBP official site. Select one of the providers on the list and contact their sales agent. 

The contract terms are different for various companies, but pricing is around USD 1.00 per AMS filing.

You can file from the provider web site. Login into the dedicated web site, input data, submit and wait for filing result. You can also set up EDI link with the provider, filing directly from your system. This can save duplicate data entry work for your operation staff.
